General Discussion / Cataloguing Badges
Last post by Edelweiss James - July 01, 2022, 12:31:32 PM
For the last 12 or so years, Michael and I have, with many interludes when we did no more badges, been cataloguing my collection which has some 2,700 nursing badges. We have nearly finished - only a few hundred to go.

It is based on a Microsoft Access database (part of Office). Each badge has been photographed, front and back where appropriate, and each can have up to 51 different descriptive attributes. The database is fully searchable on each attribute, either singly or in combination. A previous version was used to catalogue Jennifer Megaughlin?s collection.

The original delivery system which enabled it to be put on other PCs was CD-based but that is now defunct as many PCs no longer have CD drives. Michael is now looking to devise something else that will be work on all PCs.

I?ll advise when the catalogue is finished and the new delivery system is working. When finalised, it would be possible for others to catalogue their collection using the Access software.

Hi.

Collected mine today. A superb addition to any nursing history collection.  Very well presented - I do like hard-back and the semi-gloss pages make for very clear, easy reading. Not too heavy to hold if reading in bed!!

Magic!

Hi Sue.

I find everything from Edelweiss absolutely stunning.  But I need to drive down to the post to seek my copy. Hopefully it will be there before me...

And a question...  Do you really find time to sit down and read?!!

Will.
