Hi, what you already have is fantastic, I do hope you can find the missing pieces.
If you are interested I believe that Sister Walton's story would be of interest to Lincolnshire County Council who will be compiling information and stories for the  Lincolnshire Remembrance Project planned for 2014. They are in the process of recruiting a project officer but in the meantime a contact is Sarah.Grundy@lincolnshire.gov.uk.

Nicely done,
I did find mention of Mary in the British Journal of Nursing as attending the Kensington Infirmary Nurses league meeting.It carried the same photograph as in your article.

Thanks for that, amazing just what info is out there if you know where to look.
I have a 1916 Kensington Nurses League Journal and at the back it lists members and associates. Mary's sister Kate is listed as an associate would that mean that she attended Kensington at some point as I suspect she did or could anyone become an associate of a league.

Hi , a best guess is that she worked there,but did not train there. When i go to kew I will look them up, just need to arrange my chuaffeur! (husband) People who currently/have worked at the LOndon , for instance, but not trained are always to welcome to join the league, as at St Thomas's .

You guys are great thanks for your replies.
I have tried to contact Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire archives for records of Kate at Peterborough but no success as yet. I will drop a line to Peterborough museum as I believe that they are restoring the original operating theatre in their building which used to be the infirmary. As Kate worked in the surgical ward there maybe they could be of some help.

Your Aunt trained at Kensington Infirmary, Marloes Road, Kensington W8 5LQ - which became St Mary Abbot's Hospital (part of the then Chelsea & Kensington HMC).

The archivist at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Fulham Road, Chelsea SW10 9TH (this hospital was built on the site of St Stephen's Hospital, Chelsea) may be able to assist you.
