I am sure that colleagues feel despair at some media reports on nursing care. I just wanted to highlight some excellent care. I was admitted to North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke as an emergency this week and received such good and KIND care from all - nursing staff ( including some I had taught), cleaning staff, doctors, porters and radiographers. Everywhere was so clean, my room was cleaned twice in a day and although I could see how busy staff were I was never made to feel a nuisance when I needed anything. Good care seems to go unheeded in the press so forgive my little posting here! Rosemary

Thanks for a bit of positive news about Nursing.I do hope that you are on the road to recovery.Heaven knows that we all have the ability to go from health care provider to health care consumer in a short period of time.Do take care.

Thank you Peter, I am finding better but a bit wobbly! Forgot to say several nurses were wearing their badges. I am pleased to report that the North Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust ( Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester) have a badge awarding ceremony at the end of the nurses training where nurses who have worked in our Trust get an award and badge. We also have WOW! Awards regularly where members of the public vote for staff who they feel have given excellent care. As a Governor we are given these to decide on and it is very emotional to read most of these.Annually we also have a lovely ceremony for DONA ( Director of Nursing Awards) with again very humbling stories of the care and support given by staff.
