Wow!! Just seen that this went for £575 this evening. Wonder who the lucky buyer was? Have to confess that I was going to liquidate some premium bonds and went up to £250 but no way could I have afforded this.Congratulations to the lucky person.

it was nice and looked in great condition and came with its original box - yes very nice in deed

Maybe I'm missing something but why are these badges plus or minus box so expensive as they are by no means the rarest badge?

Sarah Rogers

Hi..the first nurse training school?.... iconic because of Florence?   it did look perfect!.... but then an EBS went for 530 recently...... no box!

i agree nice badge but i also have others in original boxes that didn't fetch that kind of money I still can't fathom why some badges go for £500 and others for £5.00

Whilst an attractive and collectable badge the Tommies badge was issued in such large quantities that it can't be rarity that makes it commands such high prices. It really does seem down to the exclusivity/snobbery of the training school. I would still say the Enrolled versions of Tommies,The London,St Marys' Paddington, etc were issued in far smaller numbers and should therefore command higher prices.I have to go on the number of the later I have seen come up for sale on ebay and these really are seldom seen.

As far as the Statement that St Thomas' was the first training school,we could argue that St John's House was offering nurse training several years prior to 1860?

Hello All
Latest Nightingale (without box) has now reached £310 with 20 hours to go. Should we have a guessing game as to the final figure?!,

Still at £310 at 1400hrs. I'll guess £501!!

nursesue

£400 - not a bad guess eh? anyhow my next high high price badge is the glasgow royal - currently at £102 As Bruce Forsyth would say "good game  good game"

Magpie

I was just typing a congratulatory note to you Sue and also wondering whether we could have a little guessing corner on badge prices!
I'll guess £187 for the next one

Sarah Rogers

have you seen it?...another listed already!

Hi.

It's beginning to look like St Thomas' open season!  But in answer to magpie - yes, why not have a 'Guess a Badge Price' corner. All it takes is for someone to start a new topic with that heading, or something similar. Maybe magpie should have the honour? But don't offer prizes - nurse Sue, from Bonnie Scotland, would probably walk away with any prizes.  Looking at my performance I would be constantly broke!!

Will.
