How can you find out who owns a badge in the galleries, if at all.  Obviously if like me you put your name to it, it's easy.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike. Greetings.

Go to the gallery. Select any picture. Immediately above the first picture is a row of boxes. Second on the left contains an ' i ' - click on it and scroll down and you will see the additional details. Including the name of the owner when the badge was uploaded.

Come back if you need to.

Very Best.

Will.
Ps. Some owners prefer to add their own Copyright notice. No harm in that.... Ps 2. Will be back to answer Sue shortly... W.

Hello Sue.

And anyone interested of in a technical issue course. Sue commented in her recent post:-

"and i'm not sure how to put a name to a photo but would be happy to do so (if i knew how) so any help gratefully received"....

I think that you must mean name in a photo as your posted badges in the galleries are correctly named.  It is simple to put a name in a photograph but I really would advise that we would not want you to do that on our galleries as it would destroy our standardized finding. We really do need all our photographs to remain clear of text.

You may have noticed that we sometimes add a copyright notice to the news page photographs. That is mainly for finding reasons - the main being that it saves space. Otherwise it is better (herein) not to print on the photographs....

If you do want to add captions to your photographs for non-SoN use - well, any photo program will add captions, and you can modify typeface; size; colour effects etc to your hearts content. If you are using a PC it probably has Microsoft Powerpoint - text is very easily and quickly added to that and the photograph then saved - usually as jpeg separately.

But it isn't a subject for herein. I will willingly send suitable details if you really want them. Just mail me*.

Finally, if you do want to label an actual photograph - do it invisibly using a watermark. Easy enough - but I would be surprised if it is worth the effort and on an old master it would probably rate as graffiti...

And if I got it all wrong please put it down to my holidays!!!

Will.
