Nothing to do with the current batch of Liverpool Eye Hospital badges but I have two oldish strikings of this badge.

I think that the LH EN badge are a good badge to have, considering the rarity, limited run and for how long the LH trained Pupil Nurses, inscribed or not & bearing in mind the SoN would have just ordered a batch not finding the demise of EN"s perhaps, at the time of ordering.

Further to my last post, the archivist at the London, Jonathan, informed me that pupil nurses were trained from 1968 to 1990, only 22years, with 540 nurses qualifying as EN's in that period.  I have emailed him again with a few more questions which I'll post on here when he replies.

Thanks!- i thought it might be a few more, say about 600 by geustimates so it is good to now accurately.

Hi Lizzie
You may be nearer the mark with your guesstimate as the archivist says there are some records missing.  I've had a reply to my further questions & will summarise them & post on here on my return to the UK from Mallorca.

Yet more London RN & EN badges going on sale, reminiscent of other job lots in the past! The seller states they are the last ones he has, watch that space!!

What's going on - I'm suffering from London Hospital badges before the eyes!! Just checked the auction site, now there is an SRN at £100, an SEN at £95 and a pair SRN and SEN at £200. None are named to any nurse.

There's an influx of them at the moment, I managed to get the EN version from a seller on ebay along with the RN version, both unmarked.  It seems it a "Broadgreen" incident all over again, let's call it Londongate!

A couple of years ago there was a seller who had skip full of Broadgreen Hospital badges & it seemed there was a never ending supply of them.

Sound a bit like the run on Cheshire Hospital badges!!

And Prior to that a few years ago we had the East Roding badges which I regret not getting more of now as they appear quite scarce now.I know that in a couple of hospitals where I have worked when i approached what had been their school of Nursing they had boxes of unissued badges. One still does, despite my offering to take them off their hands!

What were the Cheshire badges & what were the East Roding ones?  Any pics of them?
