Just cataloging some of my GNC badges & I've 2 RSCN badges one numbered 5318 & one numbered 5325 from 1936, who then both went on to undertake their SRN training in 1940 with the respective SRN GNC registration numbers 103727& 105351.  I wonder if these 2 nurses knew each other.  RSCN badge 3518 trained at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, I have her hospital badge.  The RSCN 5325 GNC belonged to a nurse Bethune, whose hospital badge I don't have.
Did any of our members train between 1974 & 1982 when the last GNC badge were issued, I'm still after dating some un-dated GNC badges I have in my possession.  I have identified badges up to & including 1973, 78 & 81 but need to date badges 74, 75, 76, 77, 79, 80 & 82, I can supply registration badge numbers if anyone can help.
Thanks
Mike

hi Myk - i was in the last sets that qualified under the old GNC - alas i lost my own badge but we did get issued with a commerative GNC certificate. I qualified in March 1983 That must be some task cataloging all those badges and must be a wonderful site to see. Is it just the SRN badges that you have or do you have the SEN ones as well

Hi Sue
Does your registration number contain letters as well as numbers?

On a slightly separate note re GNC Badges,as there was a separate part of the register for Male Nurses unto 1950 with 2142 names when it closed,How were these named and numbered? It's just that I'm sure I must have had one of these through my hands but don't recall noticing a difference other than perhaps a crescent back finding(most of these though i think were RMNs).Anyone got an identified Male General Nurse badge pre 1950 to check?

Sue, just to clarify that you were issued with a GNC badge in 1983?  I thought they ceased to be issued in 1982?
On another note, did we ever get to the bottom of why there were bronze with blue enamel & chromium with green enamel GNC badges?  They were actually issued as I've a chromium with green enamel in my collection that forms part of a set.    I've just displayed a bronze with blue enamel GNC badge for a swap if anyone is interested.

Hi Mike.

I might be interested in the swap - but Sue seems first in line. If she doesn't want it I would be willing to try to do a deal via our my messages link.
