I'd think not as the celtic cross itself was used widely and this could easily be either a religious or a tourist piece. The only way of being sure is if it labelled as to to the back or can definitely be attributed to a specific nurse or institution. After picking up many such pieces over the years I find that they are rarely what vendors say they are but it's a good way of them getting a better price for it if they say its nursing.
Still a nice looking badge but I'm sure Eric is probably best informed to comment?

Thanks for that.  I've emailed the seller to ask how he knows it's a nursing badge & if so what's it's association to nursing or a hospital.

The reply from my question from the seller is as follows:

Hi there
I honestly do not know. When I purchased it I was told that it was an Irish Nursing badge but I have not found evidence of this. But it has been pointed out that it does have a red cross on green. Also one of the bidders on the badgeI know buys nursing badges and it had attracted a lot of interest. Hopefully someone out there knows what it is.
