   I think I may have found a treasure but,as often is the case,I am not 100% sure. I will add the picture to the gallery but in the meantime it can be viewed here;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/backmanmal/12341570043/

It dates to 1926 and the East London Hospital for Children had a training school in place at that time.The hospital changed it's named to The Princess Elizabeth of York Hospital for Children in 1932 .The pictorial design is very similar to that of the QEHC badge later adopted when the hospital's merged in 1942. The motto also has a nursing type ring to it"We do this not for ourselves".

I have checked with the London Hospital Archive and they agree with my theory but cannot be absolutely sure,so really it comes down to has anyone out there seen a similar item or can they confirm the ID?

Its a beauty, but why the boat- it was no where near the river?  I can paste it on a RL fb site, is that ok to copy the image? sarah

The original hospital was located in Shadwell, see;    http://ezitis.myzen.co.uk/queenelizabethshadwell.html

I have the book QEHFC,125 years of achievement which gives some background to the hospital but not anything specific about badges.It does feature a photograph of the entrance hall of the PEoYH which states that when the hospitals amalgamated the ship badge was worked into the floor tiles to become the official crest.

I am more than happy to let you use the image if it helps.

Thanks

It's a lovely hospital badge!

Hi, a suggestion  relates to when it was in Shadwell; it is a thames barge? , its a beauty..

That makes a lot of sense,It is almost identical to the ship design on the later Queen Elizabeth Hospital; http://www.flickr.com/photos/36611823@N07/3406957785/in/photolist-6c4xRt-6c4z6Z-6c8GDy-6cH7Em-6i1cq9-6icmyg-6xcLsy-6DjG7p-6RiA7c-6RiAi6-6RiArk-6RiACk-6RiAMr-6RiBbn-6RnCzC-6RnDzQ-6SuUvm-6UerVa-6Uesgk-6UesqZ-6Uit5S-6Uithf-6UitCs-6Uiu7s-73JPez-76zu6i-7dxkKE-dvAvqg-hUVDnp-8MSQAt-aJyWi2-7Ybtp6-aCnb1q-8Qd91J-9Y44rh-9Y19T8-fQeJat-92oTLR-92oTqK-92oSD6-92s1EC-ik1Btw-92oTDF-92oT1k-92oUxn-fVVcdR-92oTcX-92rYNN-92oSPk-92s1NW-92oTY6
It is in really excellent condition and better still if I can shift the non nursing items in the same lot it shouldn't cost me too much! I am just happy if I can add it to the confirmed section of Nursing items.

well found, it is a beauty.

And thanks for the suggestion re the Thames barge,it clearly is,which also reinforces the ID;  http://www.thamesbarge.org.uk/barges/barges/cambria.html
