Hello.

A notice to let everyove interested in nursing buckles, as well as badges, that there is an article on the subject now on site at:-

http://www.schoolsofnursing.co.uk/Articles/EdelweisJBA2.htm

This is really a re-publication of the article by Edelweiss James, but it of serious value to the history of the nursing profession - particularly as many of the buckles worn were unmarked as far as identification went. Some, however, whilst not bearing a nurses name or dates - as do the majority of issued badges, bore the badge of the hospital they represented (as in the case of military buckles in the case of the three forces), and can often be reasonably dated because of changes in badge designs. This article  is well worth reading...

Our thanks to Edelweiss for kind permission and assistance. Thank-you.

Will.
Ps. Because we were unable to locate the original article the positioning of the photographs is our own interpretation - not the original.
