Title: Unnumbered/unnamed Scottish RMN Badge
Post by: backman on January 02, 2016, 01:08:03 PM
Just acquired a Scottish RMN badge to find that it is completely unmarked as to Name or Number of recipient.Makers marks for Hamilton & Inches, base metal, but missing pin and clasp.I wonder if it might be a Manufacturers die model.Anyone ever come across anything similar?

Hi.

Yes, I have seen a couple of un-named and numberless GNC (E&W) badges in the past.  I did keep photographs but can't for the life of me put my finger on where they are.  I think that those particular badges simply had not been inscribed at the time - as the pins and clasps were present.

You may well be right about the Scottish badges - but perhaps the maker had just not reached the pin and clasp stage?

Will.

Hi all & happy new year.
I have a similar base metal/bronze badge as the one described & i have a picture of it in the picture gallery.  I also have a gold coloured version but that is inscribed with the makers mark Hamilton and Inches Edinburgh.
