Hi, please can any one give me some information about st johns hospital badge with a stags head on it? thanks Lizzie
Hi Lizzie
Do you have a picture of it at all?

If this is the Lewisham crest, this is one of a number of hospitals which feature this design;http://nursingbadges.multiply.com/photos/album/85/Similar_but_DifferentSets#photo=7
The badge shows the stags head from the arms of the earl of Dartmouth(family name Legge) holders of the manor of Lewisham, complete with the mullet/star all of which appears on the shield used at that time by the borough of Lewisham.across the antlers is tied the twisted wreath and the bird is the Raven alluding to the local river Revensbourne. The stag holds in its mouth the rod of Asclepius.
Above is taken from the reference notes of Jennifer Meglaughlin held by the RCN
