Browsing through some old admissions documents from the 1920s I was struck by just how thigs have changed.See just how many of these diagnoses & terms you recognise ?
Paralysis; Acute Headache
Chronic Fibroid Phthisis
Cardiac Dropsy
Impetigo
Acute Cystitis and Neisser
Erysipelas
Arterio-Sclerosis
Subumers Fibroid
Marasmus
Lesophagol Obstruction
Morbus Cordis
Debility
Furunculus
Neurasthesia
Acute Pleurisy(?Empyema)

There were a fair amount of cases of Scabies,Mumps,Measles, etc although diseases such as Scarlet fever,Dyphtheria,Polio,Typhoid,Dysentry, etc were all sent to the Isolation Hospital.

I'm not sure when the term Apoplexy fell out of use but certainly the term Dropsy was still used by some patients.Anyone else ever seen Southy's tubes being used to drain excess ower limb oedema ?
