That is interesting.  Did the German military have a dedicated nursing service during the wars?

myk1066

Des anybody have any German nursing badges?

HI Myk.

I think that peter used to have one - but I am not certain...  It may be on the gallery - if I can find it I will let you know.

Peter will remember I am sure.

Best.
Will.

I have a number of German Hospital badges and German Red Cross Nursing sisters badges for both W.W.1 & W.W.2, they also had Lazarett badges for W.W.1 which was equivalent to our VAD hospitals.

Hi Barry.
Are they displayed in the galleries?  Incidentally were any German nurses prosecuted for war crimes after the wrs?

barrysutton

Some of my German badges are on the SON site and yes a number of nurses who were involved in concentration camps were prosecuted at the end of W.W.2 as were some Japanese female medical staff.

Hi Barry
Thanks for that, is there anwhere I can read about them?

I have an idea there was an article in one of the RCN International History of Nursing Journals about Nursing in WW2/Next time I'm in my loft I will try to find it!
