new hospitals are being built to cope with this Covid - 19 virus The one in London named Nightingale
The one in Glasgow is to be named after Louise Jordan. She was a Scottish nurse who tended thousands of Serbians during the typhus epidemic of 1915 before succumbing to the disease herself
So if a new hospital is to be built near you - which nurse would you name it after?
My suggestion for Birmingham would be the famous Walsall nurse Sr Dora

HI Sue. Yes, Sister Dora!!

The Belfast City Hospital was practically emptied and turned into a "Nightingale" hospital for Covid-19 patients. Even cancer patients were sent to "private sector" during that time. ALL surgery, A+E; and every department were effectively closed so that would be no cross infection.

In reality the masses didn't materialise (thankfully) and many nurses report days of standing around doing very little in those areas with no patients. Now hospital closing to Covid-19 victims and getting back to normal, which may take few more days.

So "our" Nightingale Hospital is returning to Belfast City Hospital again

Hi Eric,

There is an excellent article here:-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHS_Nightingale_Hospitals#Hospitals_2

It outlines all that is needed on the eleven COVID-19 hospitals opened to cope with the current Pandemic. Scotland; Wales; and Norther Ireland are also included, plus a Field Hospital in Gibraltar.

Well worth a look.

Will.
