Title: ALERT-Stolen Badges
Post by: backman on February 27, 2018, 06:51:39 AM
May I please make people aware of the finding;
My home was burgled recently and my hospital badges and buckles were stolen.
I'm exploring as many avenues as possible and would appreciate any help to find them.
Missing items:
1. St Thomas Hospital Nightingale badge engraved on the reverse with 'Elspeth C Young 1976'.
2. Westminster Children's Hospital badge from 1977.
3. Westminster Children's Hospital prize badge with raised silver baby and surround engraved on the reverse 'E C Young'. I can't remember if the date was on it - would have been 1977 or 1978.
4. Westminster Children's Hospital buckle.
5. Two part silver buckle with 5 cherub heads on each part surrounded by ornate pattern.
6.GNC badge number 495209
Best wishes
Elspeth O'Doherty

If anyone sees or is offered anything like these please let me know and I will pass this on to Elspeth and the relevant authorities. These are so identifiable that they may be traced but it may well be that they have been dumped.

It appears that the theft noted here is just the tip of the Iceberg and I wonder if we need a permanent option to list known stolen items? I have been contact twice this week in relation to stolen badges
1.Featonby's Auctions North Shields
Having won a lot at auction here recently I was somewhat disappointed when they contacted me to say someone has walked off with them! Whilst I have been refunded it still niggles that someone will sell these on to unsuspecting buyers.
The great interest and demand for our Nursing History has unfortunately driven up prices to the point that these badges are now worth stealing. This is now the second or third case where badges being traded are found to have been stolen. Can people in this case be on the look out for a batch of Central Middlesex Hospital Group pendant badges, similar to those I have recently added to my site as well as two North Tyneside School of Nursing badges. We must try and stamp out these wicked thefts and try to deter those take advantage of our hobby!!!!

as for someone stealing from an auction house that's awful
